Advanced Business Analyst

Job Description

Our client is seeking an on‑site Advanced Business Analyst to work as a contractor. The role involves performing the following tasks in the time and manner specified:

• Use oral and written communication to interact daily with subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish proficiency in the business processes as directed by the Department. SMEs may be end‑users, IT technical staff, HMS practice management team members, and HMS.
• Facilitate business requirement gathering sessions with SMEs as assigned by the Department, ensuring a defined agenda, common understanding of terms and definitions, synthesis of ideas, tracking discussions, and providing clear oral and written summaries using Microsoft Office tools.
• Lead Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions with development teams to represent business stakeholder interests, providing accurate answers regarding intended software functionality.
• Validate documented business requirements against business processes to ensure they accurately represent stakeholder needs. Stakeholders include end‑users of the Health Management System, Department staff involved in automated processes, staff who consume the data, and external partners exchanging Health Management System data.
• Verify developed software against business requirements and technical specifications.
• Prepare application change request documentation using Microsoft Office tools and the Department’s change and configuration management system.
• Define and document functional specifications and software test plans using Microsoft Office tools and the Department’s change and configuration management system with provided templates.
• Identify and document opportunities to improve workflow efficiency represented within the software by evaluating current system design through testing and end‑user feedback. Document identified opportunities using Microsoft Office and the Department’s change and configuration management system.
• Provide subject matter expertise to Business Analysts and the development team as directed by the Department, serving as an SME and offering accurate answers regarding intended software functionality based on functional knowledge or consultation with additional SMEs.
• Complete required training as assigned by the Department, with completion verification via certificates, sign‑in sheets, or the Department’s Learning Management System.
• Position duration: 07/01/2023 through 06/30/2024 with a renewal possible. Rate: $50 to $60 per hour depending on experience.

• Eight years of documented experience as a business analyst on software development projects.
• Four years of documented experience serving in a senior business analyst capacity directing the efforts of other business analysts.
• Four years of documented experience implementing messaging according to HL7 standards, including ADT and C‑CDA.
• Two years of documented experience implementing messaging according to EDI standards.
