Overview

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is committed to ensuring Florida's consumers receive essential services — electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater — in a safe, reasonable, and reliable manner. The FPSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.

Description of Job Duties:

The Senior Attorney hired by the FPSC will work in the Economic Regulation Section of the Office of General Counsel. This Section handles legal work for the Commission concerning rate making, certification, and territorial issues in the water, wastewater, electric, and gas industries. The Senior Attorney will appear primarily before the Florida Public Service Commission.

Responsibilities include:

• Evaluate issues and conduct complex legal research; apply research to issues.
• Conduct investigations and discovery; present evidence; advocate positions at hearings (oral and written).
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; work collaboratively on a team.
• Assist in drafting recommendations, pleadings, and written Commission orders with appropriate technical staff.

Admission to The Florida Bar and two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law, or in administrative or judicial meetings.
