Donation Attendant

Goodwill Industries of Akron is looking to hire an entry-level Donation Attendant / Stock Associate.

Founded in Boston, MA in 1902 by Reverend Edgar J. Helms, Goodwill has been providing opportunities for men and women across America and around the world ever since. Goodwill Industries of Akron was established in 1927 in a one-room salon at the corner of Howard and Furnace Streets as a branch of Goodwill Industries of Cleveland. Today, we continue to flourish as we serve Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland, and Richland counties.

Our mission is to help individuals prepare for, find, and retain employment.

You are the face of our agency to our donors. You accept, load, unload, sort, and price donations. With a gracious and positive attitude, you accept merchandise donations and provide assistance to our donors, offering them a coupon, a receipt, and a smile. You efficiently sort clothing and household goods into categories and test electronics to ensure they work properly before pricing them.

You keep accurate and up-to-date records of donations and maintain a clean, hazard-free work area while operating equipment safely. You play a vital role in supporting our mission of serving the community.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and load donations for clothing, furniture, and other household goods.
• Ability to work outside in whatever Mother Nature throws our way.
• Customer service skills.
• Can-do, get-it-done mindset.
• Good communication skills and enjoyment of working with people.
• Ability to work efficiently with an awareness of overall surroundings.

This entry-level position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
