Medical Secretary - Band 4 - 12 Months Fixed Term 35 hours

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust serves a community of 250,000 people across Tameside & Glossop. We provide a range of services within the hospital and across our community for both adults and children.

As a Medical Secretary, you will work alongside highly motivated, enthusiastic Medical Secretaries to provide confidential medical secretary support to Consultants and the Clinical Team, enabling an effective, efficient and timely service to children and families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential medical secretary service to Consultants and the Clinical Team.
  • Organise Consultant workload and manage diaries.
  • Deal with office correspondence, including complaints, medical legal documents and investigations.
  • Communicate with Support Secretary to manage patient pathways using IT tools.
  • Ensure service aligns with national and local targets and achieves KPI’s.
  • Support the Secretarial & Administrative Team in managing waiting lists, booking, scheduling and meeting targets.
  • Work autonomously as part of a centralised team and provide cover for colleagues as directed by manager.
  • Prioritise and manage workload to tight deadlines, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
  • Maintain consistently high standards and confidential handling of all work.
Qualifications & Skills

Experience as a Medical Secretary or similar administrative role.

Excellent typing, secretarial, oral and written communication skills.

Ability to prioritise and manage workload to tight deadlines.

Strong initiative, flexibility and team working skills.

Capability to work independently and in a supportive team environment.
