Senior Environmental Advisor £50,000 - £60,000 DOE Harefield We care… That's why we need someone like you, someone who cares about the environment, communities, your colleagues and customers! We're looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects across our HS2 and Thames Water contracts. This is a fantastic opportunity for an environmental professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and project managers, providing practical advice and helping to ensure environmental standards are maintained across complex construction and utilities projects.

You'll be involved across both contracts, providing environmental support from planning and pre-construction through to delivery, while helping teams identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce their impact. Here are some of the activities you'll be involved in Providing environmental advice and support to project and operational teams across HS2 and Thames Water contracts. Carrying out site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring appropriate actions are followed through.

Supporting the implementation and monitoring of Environmental Management Plans and associated project requirements. Advising teams on environmental risks, controls and legal requirements. Supporting investigations into environmental incidents, complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and appropriate corrective actions. Monitoring compliance with environmental legislation, client requirements and company procedures. Working with project teams to identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and promote best practice.

Supporting environmental input into project planning, construction activities, tenders and bids where required. Liaising with clients, regulators, stakeholders and supply chain partners on environmental matters. Providing environmental briefings, toolbox talks and training to operational teams. Maintaining accurate environmental records and supporting reporting against project and company objectives. Keeping up to date with changes in environmental legislation and industry best practice.

Developing initiatives that improve sustainability and reduce environmental impacts across our projects. We'd love to hear from you if… You have significant experience working in an environmental advisory role within construction, infrastructure, utilities or a similar operational environment, and are confident providing practical environmental support across live projects. You'll have a strong understanding of environmental legislation and management systems, together with experience carrying out site inspections, audits and investigations.

Experience working on major infrastructure or water projects would be highly advantageous, particularly within an environment where you are working closely with operational teams and clients. You'll be confident communicating with people at all levels, from site teams and project managers through to clients and external stakeholders. You'll be able to provide practical advice, challenge where necessary and build positive working relationships.

Experience of HS2 and/or Thames Water would be beneficial, although we're also interested in hearing from environmental professionals with relevant experience across other major infrastructure or utilities projects. You'll be organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities across multiple projects, with a genuine interest in improving environmental performance rather than simply maintaining compliance. A relevant environmental qualification or degree is desirable, together with membership of a relevant professional body.

A full and valid UK driving licence is essential as the role will involve travel to project sites.
