Position: Learning Mentor - September 2026

Learning Mentor - September 2026

Location: Tameside

Contract: Full‑time or part‑time temporary contract

Salary: £92.56 - £110.00 per day depending on experience

Premier Education is currently recruiting for proactive and experienced Learning Mentors to join one of our valued Tameside schools from September.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about pupil wellbeing and resilience
, particularly for children facing barriers to learning due to SEMH
, SEN
, or social disadvantage. You will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome behavioural and emotional challenges through support, coaching, and mentoring.

Requirements
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Have at least 6 months of experience working in mainstream or specialist educational setting.
  • Be confident and skilled in managing and de‑escalating behaviour challenges. Team Teach training is desirable.
  • Be proactive, positive, and aligned with the ethos of child‑centred, inclusive education.
  • Strong communication and team working skills with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
Role responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs in both 1:1 and small group formats.
  • Provide academic, social, and emotional mentoring, and act as a positive role model.
  • Help implement personalised learning and behaviour plans in collaboration with teaching staff and the SENCO.
  • Engage in pastoral care and liaise with families and external agencies as needed.
  • Deliver behaviour regulation strategies and restorative conversations.
  • Record and monitor pupil progress, safeguarding, and behaviour incidents (experience with CPOMS is an advantage).
  • Promote a positive, inclusive environment where all pupils feel safe and supported.
