An ambitious and inclusive primary school in Tameside is looking to appoint an experienced Level 2 or Level 3 qualified SEND Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated Inclusion Team from September.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established SEND provision where every child is supported to reach their full potential. Working alongside an experienced SENCO, class teachers, therapists and pastoral staff
, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve the outcomes identified within their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Support children with a range of SEND including:
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- ADHD
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Deliver targeted interventions linked to pupils' EHCP outcomes.
- Adapt learning activities to enable pupils to access the curriculum successfully.
- Promote communication, emotional regulation, independence and positive social interaction.
- Use visual supports, sensory strategies and adaptive approaches to meet individual learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals including Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews, observations and provision planning.

The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND within a primary school.
- A sound understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive classroom practice.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH or other additional needs.
- Confidence implementing strategies identified within EHCPs and behaviour support plans.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Experience using strategies such as Visual Timetables, PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism, Zones of Regulation, sensory regulation techniques or Team Teach would be advantageous.
