Primary Teaching Assistant (VR/1030142) Ashton-Under-Lyne, England

Prospero Teaching is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across primary schools in Ashton-under-Lyne. This role is ideal for motivated graduates or those with SEN experience who want to kick‑start a career in education, psychology or child development.

You will work with students who may have needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties (MLD) and social or communication challenges. This offers hands‑on experience, opportunity to develop behaviour management skills, and the chance to make a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 support or small group interventions for students with SEN
  • Assisting in delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Supporting students with literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • Helping manage behaviour and engagement in a positive, proactive way
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils to boost confidence and independence
  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management
About You
  • Strong interest in working with children with SEN / SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Experience with children (voluntary, coaching, tutoring, care work) is advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Eligibility & Requirements
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or willingness to process a new application
  • Two professional child‑related references
