Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Hyde area of Greater Manchester, seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them feel confident, included and able to achieve their potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the wider school team to provide targeted support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Supporting children to access learning and participate fully in classroom activities.
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Supporting pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Using appropriate strategies to encourage positive behaviour.
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
- Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.
- Supporting children with their emotional regulation and wellbeing.
- Encouraging positive relationships between pupils and their peers.
- Monitoring and communicating pupil progress and concerns.
- Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Contributing to individual support plans and school strategies where required.
- A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent.
- Strong experience supporting children within a primary school setting.
- A minimum of 6 months' recent UK classroom experience.
- Experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable.
- A good understanding of inclusive education and differentiated learning.
- Strong behaviour management skills.
- A patient, nurturing and child-centred approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build trusting relationships with children.
- Confidence supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
The role is based in the Hyde area of Greater Manchester, making it an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants living in or travelling from Hyde, Denton, Dukinfield, Stalybridge, Ashton-under-Lyne, Audenshaw, Droylsden, Mottram-in-Longdendale and surrounding areas.
Hyde offers a mixture of established communities, local amenities, green spaces and leisure facilities. Its connections to surrounding areas make it a convenient location for education professionals looking for opportunities across Tameside and Greater Manchester.
Requirements- Relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- At least 6 months' recent UK classroom experience.
- SEN experience is desirable.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
- Ability to provide a full two years of employment and/or education references.
- At least one reference relating to working with children.
