AboutThe Role
The Commercial Analyst supports the Commercial Manager and Managing Quantity Surveyor on the A57 project, helping to deliver effective risk and change management. This role offers exposure to a broad range of commercial and analytical activities essential to the successful delivery of the project.
The position involves assisting with coordination and administration of key commercial processes, such as managing contract notices, maintaining risk registers, and supporting change documentation. Full training will be provided to develop an understanding of contractual requirements and to protect Balfour Beatty’s commercial position.
The role involves managing and analysing detailed commercial data to support robust contract, risk, and change management processes. It supports decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis, with progression towards a vocational NVQ qualification in Quantity Surveying and potential professional accreditation through RICS or ICES.
Responsibilities- Assist in gathering data and conducting research on construction-related risks and opportunities under supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of risk management strategies and support the preparation of risk documentation.
- Provide administrative support for the operation and upkeep of risk management systems and registers.
- Support the administration and upkeep of CEMAR to ensure timely and accurate processing of notices and communications.
- Liaise with the wider project team to collate supporting documentation, including cost data, programme updates, and substantiation for compensation events.
- Support the monitoring of change management activities by contributing to the preparation of progress and status reports.
- Maintain filing structures to keep accurate records provided by others.
- Maintain an up-to-date Personal Development Plan (PDP) aligned with role progression and learning objectives.
- Work towards and achieve HNC/HND and NVQ qualifications at a minimum merit level.
- Progress towards Associate Membership of a recognized professional body such as the RICS or ICES.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or equivalent.
- A Levels (or equivalent qualifications).
- Desirable:
Work experience in a related field. - Industry awareness.
- Strong experience with using Excel and willingness to learn use of new systems.
- Awareness of the role of a Quantity Surveyor.
- Willingness to use initiative and be curious.
