The Role

As a Tax Trainee, you will begin your career in tax by supporting the delivery of high‑quality services to a varied portfolio of private and corporate clients. Your initial focus will be on tax compliance, assisting with the preparation of returns for individuals and businesses of different sizes. Over time, you will gain exposure to advisory and consulting projects, working closely with managers and directors to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a respected firm of accountants based just outside Manchester city centre. You will benefit from structured training, ongoing professional development, and the chance to work with a diverse client base in a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses under the guidance of senior colleagues.
  • Support the tax team in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Contribute to corporation tax compliance work, with opportunities to gain experience in personal tax.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to managers and directors on specialist advisory projects.
  • Learn to build strong client relationships through clear communication and professional service delivery.
  • Participate in training sessions and actively work towards professional qualifications.
Experience & Skills Required
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in tax within a professional practice environment.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Studying towards or intending to study ATT (support will be provided).
  • Previous experience in an accountancy or finance setting is beneficial but not essential.
