The post holder will be a visible and proactive role model who supports development in the multi-professional team working within the maternity unit.
The Maternity Practice Based Educator Midwife will work in collaboration with the Practice Development Midwife and Clinical Skills Educator Midwife for the development, planning, co‑ordination, and delivery of mandatory and continued professional education programmes for all staff within the maternity unit.
The post holder shall have comprehensive, specialised theoretical knowledge within their field of work and be involved in designing, implementing, and delivering all education programmes aligned with national strategy, safety initiatives, and Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems (LMNS).
The post holder should be a midwife competent in assessment, planning, and delivery of care to women, babies, and their families through the antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum period and will support high standards of care through an efficient and effective service.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, deliver, and monitor training and development programmes for maternity staff.
- Design and implement educational programmes aligned with national strategy and LMNS.
- Provide support to staff in clinical practice and quality improvement.
- Band 6 NMC Registered Midwife.
- Competent in assessment, planning, and delivery of maternity care.
