Clinical Pharmacist Band 6 to 7 Specialist Pharmacist Progression Post
- Permanent- 37.5hours per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, Registered Pharmacist with demonstrable experience, who wants to make a real difference to patient care, to join our successful team and contribute towards developing our services.
You will work with the Pharmacy Team in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for patients. To support advanced pharmacists in the implementation of medicines management plans. To be professionally accountable for any pharmacy function for which they assume responsibility.
The initial banding of the postholder will depend on past experience and/or completion of a conversion competency document.
Main duties of the jobBand 6 Pharmacists participate in our training rotation providing a wide variety of experience including surgical, acute admissions and emergency medicine, orthopaedics, paediatrics. Whatever your ambitions, our personalised clinical training programme will develop your medicine optimisation skills.
Band 7 Pharmacists have sufficient experience not to require direct professional support and will participate in a range of routine professional and clinical services provided by the department, but will also be allocated to a specific service(s) as part of their duties for example Aseptics, Anticoagulation Clinics, Intermediate Care Services, Medicines Infomation, Palliative Care, Clinical Trials, iQemo, Trainee Pharmacist tutor and Immunoglobulins.
The pharmacist may accompany a Consultant on his / her regular ward rounds; attend Pharmacist-led clinics. The Pharmacist will be required to take an active part in new service development. The Pharmacist will spend part of their time allocated to one or more specific and specialist areas of pharmaceutical activity supporting the work of the Advanced Clinical Pharmacist(s) who have day-to-day responsibility for these activities
Participation in the extended hours, weekend, Bank Holiday and on-call service will be required

Person Specification Qualifications- Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy or recognised equivalent
- Pre-registration training and experience
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Completed or undertaking a post-graduate diploma / MSc in clinical pharmacy (or planning to commence training)
- Independent Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification
- Post registration experience of working in a busy Hospital (or equivalent documented clinical experience)
- Good working knowledge of therapeutics of common disease states and frequently used therapeutic regimes
- Good all round practical clinical pharmacy and medicines management skills
- Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and in writing with patients and service users
