Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead and support shop floor operations within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role ideally suited to a time-served Sheet Metal Worker/Fabricator who has progressed into supervision and thrives in a technical, regulated production setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production activities while driving performance, quality, and team engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Lead by example in maintaining and promoting 5S standards across all work areas.
Ensure all production activities comply with aerospace standards and internal quality requirements.
Production & Operational Leadership
Supervise daily production activities to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements.
Allocate labour and resources effectively to maximise efficiency and productivity.
Monitor performance against KPIs (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety).
Identify and eliminate waste within processes and workflows.
Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Technical Oversight
Read and interpret engineering drawings and aerospace specifications.
Provide technical guidance across key processes including:
Material cutting (CNC router or punch)
Heat treatment processes
Forming operations (hand forming, rubber press, press brake)
Various inspection and quality control methods
Ensure correct process adherence and specification compliance at all times.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of skilled operators.
Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and training as required.
Promote accountability, teamwork, and high standards of workmanship.
Support workforce planning and absence management where necessary.
Systems & Problem Solving
Utilise MRP systems for production control and material planning.
Lead root cause analysis and structured problem-solving activities.
Make effective operational decisions under pressure.
Drive measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Previous supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred).
Time-served Sheet Metal Worker / Fabricator background.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and aerospace specifications.
Knowledge of aerospace sheet metal manufacturing processes.
Experience working with MRP systems.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent communication and people management skills.
Energetic, proactive, and forward-thinking approach.
Strong commitment to Health & Safety and 5S standards.
Desirable
Experience with in a regulated aerospace environment.
Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, etc.).
Understanding of aerospace quality standards.
