Position: FLT / Chemical Operator
Location: Dukinfield

Overview

Job Specification - Chemical FLT Operator.

Hours:

Day Shift, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Contract:

Temp to Perm. Great opportunity for long-term development within a growing business. This role involves mixing, batching, handling chemicals, and filling IBCs while ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.

Responsibilities
  • Chemical Processing & Production
  • Experienced Counterbalance driver
  • Accurately weigh, measure, mix, and batch chemical products following detailed production instructions.
  • Operate mixing vessels, blending machines, pumps, and automated/semi automated filling equipment.
  • Fill containers including IBCs, drums, and smaller packaging formats to required specifications.
  • Monitor temperatures, pressures, and process parameters to ensure safe, efficient production.
  • Complete regular process checks, quality checks, and documentation.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Handle chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH, PPE requirements, and site safety rules.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure safe use of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free working area.
  • Report any issues, deviations, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Warehouse & Material Handling
  • Move raw materials, containers, and finished goods safely within the production and storage areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading deliveries when required.
  • Use FLT (Counterbalance preferred) if licensed – advantageous but not essential.
  • Complete stock rotation, labelling, and chemical traceability logs.
  • General Production Support
  • Assist with equipment cleaning, wash-downs, and changeovers.
  • Work closely with supervisors and quality teams to maintain high standards.
  • Meet daily production targets while maintaining accuracy and safety.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in chemical manufacturing, mixing/batching, liquid blending, or similar industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, chemical handling, or hazardous materials (advantageous).
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Physically fit — comfortable with manual handling and active production duties.
  • FLT licence
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively within a team.
