Salary: £17.00 - £20.00 per hour (£32,700 - £38,500 per annum)

Job Overview

Our client, a well-established heavy engineering company, is seeking an experienced CNC Elgamill Setter/Operator/Programmer to join their day shift machine shop team.

This is a permanent opportunity within a specialist heavy engineering environment, where the successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming a CNC Elgamill machining centre, producing medium to large engineering components to customer specifications.

The machine operates using Fanuc controls, and candidates must be capable of programming directly from engineering drawings. Experience using CIMCO CAD/CAM or Autodesk Fusion for offline programming would be highly advantageous.

The successful candidate will be working within a heavy engineering facility machining large fabrications, castings, and precision-engineered components to exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting, operating, and programming a CNC Elgamill machining centre.
  • Programming directly from engineering drawings using Fanuc controls.
  • Producing medium to heavy engineering components to customer specifications.
  • Machining large fabrications, castings, and heavy engineering components.
  • Selecting suitable tooling, work holding methods, cutting conditions, and machining strategies.
  • Using CIMCO CAD/CAM or Autodesk Fusion software for offline programming where appropriate.
  • Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using manual measuring equipment.
  • Ensuring all work meets customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.
  • Supporting production requirements and completing overtime when required.
Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience setting, operating, and programming CNC milling machines.
  • Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems.
  • Ability to program directly from engineering drawings.
  • Experience machining medium to large engineering components.
  • Experience with in a heavy engineering or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, machining strategies, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
  • Ability to self-inspect work using manual measuring equipment.
  • Experience with CIMCO CAD/CAM or Autodesk Fusion would be advantageous.
  • A flexible approach with the willingness to work overtime when required.
Working Hours
- Day Shift
  • Monday
    - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
  • Friday: 08:00 - 13:00
  • 37 paid hours per week
  • 30-minute unpaid lunch break Monday
    - Thursday
  • No lunch break on Friday
Overtime & Earnings
  • Minimum expectation of 11 hours overtime per week.
  • Overtime paid at T+1/3.
  • Sunday overtime paid at T+1/2.

Regular overtime provides an excellent opportunity to significantly increase annual earnings.
