Senior Sister/Charge Nurse - Critical Care Unit
Band 7 Permanent vacancy - 37.5 Hours per week
We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated individual to lead a team of nurses to deliver high standards of nursing care in a 9 bedded Surgical and general critical care unit. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to support the management of the unit. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior nurse to advance their existing clinical knowledge and skills, as well as being an excellent managerial learning opportunity
Main duties of the jobTo carry continuous responsibility and accountability for the management of the ward/department, making effective use of resources and ensuring the highest standards of patient care are achieved on a 24-hour basis.
To always act in a manner consistent with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, carrying out his/her duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
To demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in the clinical area.
To lead, support, supervise and teach all staff, acting as a role model forthe staff with regard to professional behaviour and supporting the strategy for nursing.
To proactively participate within the management of the Division,
To maintain own clinical and professional development by keeping up todate with new trends and developments, interpret and incorporate them as necessary in to your work

Person Specification- First level registered Nurse with current UK registration (NMC)
- Substantial experience at Sister/Charge nurse working within a Critical care department
- Clinical expert in the area of practice
- Excellent leadership and organisational skills
- Diploma/Degree or working towards
- Evidence of leadership experience
- Proven experience of unit management/ staff supervision
- Proven experience and involvement in change management
- Proven clinical skills
- Understanding of HR Policies/procedures
- Understanding of clinical governance
- Evidence of change management
- First Line Management Course
- Knowledge of relevant critical care regional and national initiatives
- Knowledge of budget management
