Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge and an opportunity to work in a fast paced predominantly aerospace supplier with a growing orderbook and portfolio of clients? We are looking to appoint a Quality Engineer with industry knowledge and aerospace experience to work as part of our quality team within our sheet metal and assembly business at our Dukinfield (Cheshire) site.
Aboutthe opportunity
- Investigate and respond to non-conformances.
- Analyse quality data and proactively work with colleagues to improve quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and develop and maintain standard work sheets.
- Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining calibration equipment and devices, carrying out daily calibration checks, and ensuring company approvals remain in place (ISO
14001, Nadcap, etc.). - Carry out internal and external audits.
- Build on industry knowledge and keep up to date with best practice through internal and external training.
- Work closely with the quality departments from other Hyde business units, clients and suppliers as part of the wider aerospace supply chain.
- May be required to work offsite and act up in the absence of the quality manager, providing a range of quality reports or updates to the senior leadership team as required.
- Committed to safety and compliant with 5S standards.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably sheet metal or assembly.
- Timed served inspector (ability to read drawings, specifications and determine if manufactured items conform).
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods from material to finished products.
- Experience with aerospace/defence standards of work.
- Understanding of the structure and workings of a QMS/IMS.
- Familiarity with various inspection methods (hand tools, Keyence, CMM).
- Experience with non-conformance/MRB and concession raising.
- Knowledge of FAIR and FAIR preparation (AS9100).
- Experience with APQP/PPAP.
- Strong problem solving, effective decision making, waste elimination and continuous improvement skills.
- Pragmatic, solution‑based forward thinking and excellent communication.
- Good team working ethic, highly proactive and motivated.
- Excellent customer‑facing skills.
- IT literate, especially SAP, Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Commercially and strategically aware.
