Social Worker – Child Protection Chair / Conference and Review Officer within Children’s Services in Tameside, earning £40.00 per hour. What you will do:

Chair Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, ensuring they remain child-centred, inclusive, and compliant with statutory guidance.

Independently oversee Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews and other statutory review meetings, ensuring robust scrutiny and accountability.

Promote the active involvement of children, young people, parents, carers, and families in decision-making processes.

Monitor and evaluate Child Protection Plans and Care Plans to ensure they remain focused on achieving positive outcomes for children.

Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge where safeguarding concerns, drift, or delays in planning are identified.

Ensure statutory timescales for conferences, reviews, and associated documentation are consistently achieved.

Facilitate effective multi-agency collaboration between social care, education, health services, police, and other partner organisations.

Escalate concerns where safeguarding arrangements are ineffective and ensure agencies fulfil their statutory responsibilities.

Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with local and national requirements.

Contribute to audits, quality assurance activities, and service evaluations to drive continuous improvement.

Support learning from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and promote best practice across Children’s Services.
