Accounting Specialist (Finance)
This position is responsible for providing high‑level customer service to students and their families via face‑to‑face, email, and telephone. The role uses the Banner student system to analyze and explain student accounts, acts as a resource for other departments on Banner‑related inquiries, assists students in preparing required forms for various appeals, and provides documentation as needed. It works in a shared space with the Registrar’s Office and the Office of Financial Aid and cross‑trains to assist in those areas.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma and four years of related experience in an accounting function.
- College coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for required experience.
- Respond to student and family inquiries in person, email, or telephone.
- Explain policies, answer questions, and independently resolve problems when feasible.
- Use Banner to perform in‑depth student account analysis, potentially involving other University departments.
- Explain student accounts accurately and clearly to students and parents.
- Act as a resource for other departments with Banner‑related inquiries regarding student accounts.
- Apply sound judgment to respond to individual needs and special situations appropriately, referring problems as necessary.
- Ensure all transactions comply with USF policies, procedures, and business processes.
- Identify adjustments needed to the student account based on analysis, notify departments of discrepancies, and prepare requests to complete them.
- Continually cross‑train with Registrar’s Office and Office of Financial Aid staff to provide seamless coverage in the shared space.
This position may be subject to a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.
