JUNIOR PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT
Job SummarySupport the payroll team in processing accurate and timely payroll for employees. This role will assist with payroll data entry, reconciliations, reporting, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in processing weekly and monthly payroll for all employees.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records in the HRIS/payroll system.
- Review and verify timesheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Assist with payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the preparation of payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in audits and year-end processes, including W-2 preparation.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and benefits deductions.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university OR AA/AS degree with 1 year of experience in accounting or related field OR 7 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- 1 – 2 years of experience in processing payroll, construction industry strongly preferred
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations is a plus.
- Knowledge of union payroll and reporting is a plus.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
