Staff Accountant

Second Avenue is recruiting an experienced Staff Accountant for our Tampa, FL Central Operations office.

Staff Accountant will assist in the preparation of entries for financial statements, applying GAAP, validating controls. Responsibilities include month‑end closing, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and special projects. Must be teachable, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly internal reports and month‑end closing duties.
• Maintain and improve reporting as needed for management.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Maintain financial data records.
• Prepare spreadsheets and reports using Excel and accounting software.
• Prepare journal entries.
• Research and resolve accounting issues.
• Conduct special projects and other services at management request, including financial analysis and accounting research.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Excellent technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and decision‑making skills.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Knowledge of full cycle accounting.
• Ability to verify data input and correct errors.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and follow up on pending issues.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.

• Sense of urgency.
• Ability to manage processes and review reports, taking appropriate action.
• Organize workload, prioritize activities, and follow up appropriately.
• Attention to detail and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

• Full‑time, Hourly – Non‑Exempt.
