Moss' Project Engineers work in concert with the Project Manager and project team to drive and coordinate the various processes of building commercial construction projects. They assist Project Managers with the planning and daily execution of the construction project and are responsible for tracking all submittals and delivery of materials and the coordination of the contract documents to avoid potential conflict.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in pre‑construction activities such as establishing document control procedures, performing quantity takeoffs, conducting site investigations, participating in value engineering, constructability review, Prolog setup, monitoring pre‑construction schedules, assisting with subcontractor & vendor solicitation, development of QC plans, scope of work and bid package, documenting pre‑construction meetings, initiating permit processes, budgeting, coordinating mock‑ups, and reviewing condo risk mitigation.
- Coordinates project start‑up: reviews owner contract, assists with development of startup checklist and site utilization plan, mobilization, subcontractor & vendor selection, identifies critical issues & milestones, finalizes Prolog setup, participates in construction schedule development, and contractor orientation.
- Expedites materials: develops submittal log, establishes fabrication & delivery schedule, confirms delivery of materials, conducts submittal/SD review process, reviews coordination drawings, monitors off‑site storage, coordinates owner‑furnished materials, and verifies fabrication status.
- Coordinates construction activities: strategies with Superintendent, conducts subcontractor pre‑construction meetings, maintains activity tracking logs, participates in schedule updates, conducts quality control inspections, verifies field installations, ensures compliance with safety procedures and policies, coordinates storage of delivered materials, participates in daily superintendent meetings, jobsite meetings, maintains material expediting log, participates in project team visits, coordinates activities with user groups, and assists with agency inspections.
- Facilitates project administration: expedites subcontractor and vendor agreements, assists with insurance and bond agreements, prepares meeting agendas and minutes, manages check‑hold list, maintains jobsite files, processes progress photos, prepares project status reports, coordinates with project staff, maintains Prolog, generates correspondence, administers RFI process, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Tracks project costs: processes subcontractor and vendor pay requests, assists with tracking owner payments, tracks subcontractor back charges, updates labor cost reports.
- Manages change order process: creates change requests, reviews scope changes, determines schedule impacts, issues owner notification, expedites subcontractor and vendor pricing, prepares cost proposals, and negotiates proposal costs.
