Open Rank Allergy and Immunology Physician Scientist (Finance)
The Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Allergy and Immunology, is seeking a full-time Open Rank physician-scientist to expand translational research. A successful candidate will possess an interest in independent and collaborative research within the discipline of Allergy and Immunology (Asthma, Immunotherapy, Food Allergies, etc).
Responsibilities- Clinical:
Provide coverage at affiliated hospitals and clinics, including H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, James
A. Haley VA, All Children’s Hospital, and Tampa General Hospital. - Teaching:
Teach medical students and residents in inpatient and outpatient settings; supervise internal medicine residents in an inpatient setting; precept medical students in ambulatory clerkships. - Research:
Design and execute hypothesis‑driven experiments; analyze, interpret, and present data in laboratory meetings, institutional seminars, and scientific conferences; maintain organized research records; contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing, and peer‑reviewed publications; stay current with scientific literature and bring innovative ideas to the lab’s research direction; collaborate with clinicians and core facilities. - Serve on university‑wide, medical school, and departmental committees.
- Academic advising and mentorship of students in scholarly projects.
- Represent the university, college, or department at external events.
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor, normally has produced creative work, professional writing, or research in refereed journals and is a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Board certified (or eligible) in Allergy & Immunology. DEA License. MD ± PhD.
Preferred2–3 years of physician experience. Prior experience in an academic medical center with a proven track record in teaching.
Licensing and Certification RequirementsMust hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent. Must obtain and maintain a full unrestricted Florida Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals where clinical duties will be performed. Must be board certified in Internal Medicine.
