Shriners Children’s Texas is seeking a full-time Chief of Burns to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the pediatric Burn Program at Shriners Children’s Texas. This role is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, quality and safety outcomes, program growth, and multidisciplinary collaboration across the continuum of burn care.

Located adjacent to the campus of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Shriners Children’s Texas is a nationally recognized pediatric specialty hospital and regional referral center where hope and healing meet. As part of the Shriners Children’s system, the hospital provides mission-driven care to children with complex conditions, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Shriners Children’s Texas is home to an American Burn Association (ABA) verified pediatric burn center and is verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, delivering highly specialized acute, reconstructive, and rehabilitative burn care. The Burn Program manages high-acuity pediatric burn injuries, including large TBSA and inhalation injuries, within a comprehensive, multidisciplinary model.
Our physicians and staff are highly specialized in burn care, orthopedic conditions, complex skin disorders, and plastic and reconstructive surgery, supported by dedicated pediatric intensivists, advanced practice providers, specialized nursing teams, rehabilitation services, and psychosocial support.
Position Responsibilities Administrative, Operational and Organizational Duties- Act as the primary administrative liaison between the Burns department and the hospital’s executive leadership team, ensuring effective communication and alignment on organizational objectives.
- Ensure that the Medical Staff is appropriately represented in meetings of the Board of Governors and assure Medical Staff involvement in Joint Conference committee, Quality Assurance Committee, Medical Staff meetings, and other hospital and committee board meetings
- Ensure the Board of Governors is adequately informed of medical staff issues and activities
