Assistant Professor of Instruction, Exercise Science and Kinesiology
The Exercise Science and Kinesiology (ESK) program in the College of Education at the University of South Florida invites applicants for a full‑time, 9‑month, non‑tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction position beginning in August 2026. This position is permanent, with successful candidates eligible for promotion to Associate Professor of Instruction and the terminal rank of Professor of Instruction. Candidates should be committed to providing engaging academic experiences that promote student success in and out of the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality undergraduate instruction across a broad array of Exercise Science courses, including Survey of Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Exercise Testing and Prescription Lab, Sports Nutrition, Exercise Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, Administration of Fitness and Wellness Centers, and courses within the program concentrations.
- Coordinate and supervise field experiences, mentor undergraduate students, support student social engagement (e.g., assist with the student organization of the Exercise Science and Kinesiology program), and engage in the Living Learning Community in residence halls.
- Maintain involvement in professional organizations and contribute to program, college, and university service.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or a related field.
- Experience teaching undergraduate courses.
- Experience coordinating Exercise Science laboratories and/or practical settings.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
- Record of involvement in professional organizations.
- A demonstrated commitment to student success.
- A demonstrated commitment to program, college, and university service.
- A demonstrated commitment to collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising and coordinating field experiences.
- Successful teaching experience (both traditional and online formats) in undergraduate courses in Exercise Science.
- Current certifications from ACSM, NSCA, NCHEC, or similar professional organizations, or an interest in attaining such certifications.
