Assistant Professor of Instruction - Judy Genshaft Honors College
The Judy Genshaft Honors College at the University of South Florida is seeking a full‑time Assistant Professor of Instruction. The position falls under the Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law (PPEL) umbrella or Sustainability Studies.
Job DescriptionApplicants should have a strong grounding in practice, an investment in inventive pedagogy and curriculum development, and experience teaching high‑ability students. Learning takes place in seminar‑style and/or experiential learning‑informed environments. The successful candidate will engage students from a range of majors and multiple areas of the college’s curriculum. A commitment to community engagement, experiential learning, and other high‑impact teaching practices is desired, along with willingness to participate in College programming and student engagement initiatives beyond the classroom.
Interests and skills should contribute to the College’s commitments of Engaged Citizenship, Healthy Humanities, and/or Sustainable Futures.
The ideal candidate has interdisciplinary training, with specialization in areas such as technology and society, ethics in AI/LLMs, civic engagement, or sustainable futures. A “T‑shaped” approach to teaching—broad knowledge combined with deep specialization—is highly valued.
Salary is highly competitive and depends on qualifications. The start date is August 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach a 3/3 load (classes capped at 19 students), including Honors thesis mentoring.
- Support student success through curriculum development and engagement activities.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Demonstrable effectiveness as a teacher in higher education.
- Ability to teach broadly across the Judy Genshaft Honors College curriculum.
- Experience engaging students from a range of majors (Finance, Graphic Arts, Biomedical Sciences, History, etc.).
- Terminal degree completed.
- Experience with high‑ability students.
- 3 + years of teaching experience in higher education.
- Evidence of high‑impact practices and experiential learning opportunities in teaching.
- Programming and/or leadership experience.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).

- Sample Honors course syllabus.
