Behavior Support

Overview

The Teacher, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), is responsible for the instruction of all areas of Exceptional Student Education in a classroom setting. The position will be for Elementary.

• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is a part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance.
• Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
• Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
• Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

• Design and implement appropriately designed instruction, accommodations, and supports assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
• Develops and implements Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for students including present levels, goals and services.
• Creates a positive educational climate for students with disabilities to learn with respect and rapport.
• Employs teaching techniques and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
• Observe and evaluate student performance, monitor assessment data, and maintain student grades and attendance.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies, implementing positive behavior supports and evidence-based interventions, and applying disciplinary procedures as needed.
• Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
• Take responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Provide oversight to paraprofessionals; appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and documentation.
• Attend workshops and trainings to continue to build knowledge in Exceptional Student Education and maintain required certifications and professional development hours.
• Perform any other duties as assigned; responsibilities and tasks may change as determined by the needs of the district.

• Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
  Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education. Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required.

• Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education (or eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate).
• Evidence of meeting credential requirements and ongoing professional development as required.
