The Department of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering at the University of South Florida invites applications for a position at the rank of Associate Professor (tenured/tenure‑earning). An earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the start of employment is required. Candidates must have a demonstrated excellence in scholarly research and publications, an externally funded active research program, and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.
Applicants with research interests in all areas of chemical engineering are encouraged to apply.
- Develop and conduct high-quality research, writing grant proposals and publishing in refereed journals.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical or materials engineering with a commitment to inclusive pedagogy.
- Mentor undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students; supervise research projects and post‑doctoral researchers.
- Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development, and university service activities.
- Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Applicants must meet all university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor.
- Demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research and service.
- Outstanding record of scholarly publications in refereed and other professional journals.
- Significant record of scholarship in a department with undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Chemical Engineering.
- Post‑doctoral experience or similar postgraduate experience.
- Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current academic appointment in a tenure‑track or tenured position in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
- Strong record of external research funding and successful supervision of graduate and post‑doctoral students.
