Position: Senior Geologist (Petroleum Remediation)

Senior Geologist (Petroleum Remediation) Hiring Senior Engineers, Geologists, Inspectors, and Consultants in the SE US!

MAS Environmental (a NOVA Engineering & Environmental Company) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist (PG) to join our environmental team in Tampa, FL. This role focuses on petroleum-impacted sites under FDEP’s Petroleum Restoration Program. The ideal candidate will hold a Florida Professional Geologist (PG) license and have extensive experience in site assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage environmental site assessments and remediation projects in accordance with Chapter 62‑780, FAC and FDEP PRP guidelines.
  • Prepare and review technical documents including Site Assessment Reports, Remedial Action Plans, Natural Attenuation Plans, Source Removal Plans, and Site Rehabilitation Completion Reports.
  • Oversee drilling operations, soil borings, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Conduct and interpret soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling; ensure compliance with FDEP standards.
  • Supervise junior staff and subcontractors during field activities.
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans for field operations.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
Qualifications
  • Professional Geologist (PG) license in Florida (required).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in petroleum site assessment and remediation projects.
  • Proficiency in FDEP PRP processes and risk‑based corrective action strategies.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
  • OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification (with annual refreshers).
Preferred
  • Experience authoring regulatory documents for site closure using risk‑based criteria.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and institutional controls.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior staff.
