Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role

This role combines deep technical expertise in power systems with strong project management abilities to deliver efficient, high-performing renewable energy solutions. This role is essential for ensuring the effective operation and management of solar and energy storage projects.

• Design and Engineering: Performing engineering analysis and design for new solar and energy storage construction projects, as well as modifications to existing facilities. This includes ensuring designs meet NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and company specifications.
• System Performance and Reliability: Utilizing expertise in specific operating systems to ensure the reliable performance and availability of the solar fleet. This may involve assisting in comprehensive data collection, predictive modeling, and system root cause analysis for operational issues.
• Project Management: Managing the schedule and coordination of design activities with various departments (planning, construction, operations, etc.) and potentially overseeing contracted design work.
• Technical Support and Analysis: Providing technical support to project management teams and system operators, including performing studies (e.g., reactive power), troubleshooting customer voltage complaints, and conducting inspections and tests of facilities.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (like NERC and OATT) and managing site documentation, such as as-built drawings and operating procedures.
• Innovation and Development: Assisting in the operation of battery storage facilities and creating standards and documentation as the department grows with new technologies.

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college is required.
• Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related engineering work experience, with at least 5 years of direct experience in an electrical generating facility or solar & energy storage environment highly preferred.
• Licensing: Eligibility to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida is often a preferred or required qualification for a senior-level position.

• Expertise in power system analysis
• Experience with software like AutoCAD, PVsyst, and MATLAB may also be beneficial.
