Job ObjectiveUnder a five-year contract, the Communications Systems Engineer will support the United States Marine Corps Forces, Central Command (MARCENT) and subordinate commands. The scope of the requirement includes professional services for MARCENT located aboard Mac Dill Air Force Base (AFB), Florida, which serves as a Component Command to U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM). Specifically, the Communications Systems Engineer will support the Communication Directorate (G-6) within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS).
The G-6 provides communication support to MARCENT as well as command, control, communications, and computer (C4) policy advocacy to CENTCOM Communications (CCJ6) and HQMC agencies. The G-6 conducts C4 planning and validation for USMC forces operating in the CENTCOM AOR.
- Provide services for the planning, design and implementation of wide area communications systems and engineering for the commercialization of deployed communications and network management for the MARFORCENT Theater.
- Provide technical and operational support including subject matter expertise for Frequency Division Multiple Accesses (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Tactical Satellite (TACSAT), Global Broadcast Satellite (GBS) and other satellite communication (SATCOM) networks.
- Assist in configuring networks, monitoring systems, activating remote terminals as well as tracking and resolving SATCOM incident reports and problems related to baseband, intermediate frequency (IF), and RF communications.
- Submit and analyze Satellite Access, Gateway Access via the Joint Integrated SATCOM (Satellite Communication) Tool.
- Provide engineering and commercialization management during the development of communication systems that include a wide array of Commercial-Off-the Shelf (COTS) assets, networking and transmission equipment that may include routers, servers, switches, microwave, fiber, etc.
- Develop engineering diagrams that include operation and system level views while executing sound engineering change management process.
- Certification & Education
- Must possess a current US Passport with ability to travel and work overseas.
- Must be able to meet COMSEC briefing and Local Element management certification requirements available under the OPNAVINST 2201.4, DoD Instruction 8523.01 and Air Force Manual 17-1301.
- Must possess a TS/SCI Security Clearance.
- Higher education degree in Network Engineering, System Administration, Systems Engineering or related field preferred.
- Current DoD IAT certification Level 1 or above or SEC +, NET + certified and Voice/Video Network Certification, preferably CISCO certified.
- Experience Required
- Prior experience and operational knowledge of communications and network management and engineering, and commercialization support for the MARFORCENT Theater preferred.
- Prior experience and operational knowledge of configuring networks, monitoring systems, activating remote terminals as well as tracking and resolving SATCOM incident reports preferred.
- Prior experience and operational knowledge of engineering diagrams that include operation and system level views preferred.
- Strong writing, analytical, and reading skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate.
- MAGTF Communications Planner or Communications Chief.
- Five years' military experience.
- MARCENT, Mac Dill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida.
- Travel: Contractor personnel must support the projected travel in support of government requirements to MARCENT AOR and supporting locations, which includes but not limited to the following countries:
