Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Bridge Engineer will: apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs; select bridge engineering/design procedures.; develop structural details using specialized software such as Microstation, MathCAD, AutoCAD, LARSA, Prestressed Concrete Design; perform complex structural planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects, including the design of bridge superstructure (steel plate girder, prestressed concrete beams, reinforced concrete flat slabs etc.),
box culverts, substructure overhead sign structures, signal mast arm structures, and retaining walls for highway and railway projects; participate in bridge inspections; perform structural load calculations; assist with geometric layout and quantity development; and review and assign work and check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and engineers-in-training as needed.
- A Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 1 year of experience in bridge engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in bridge engineering.
- Must hold Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or have passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
- Required experience must include experience in: structural analysis and design for bridge design projects and using AASHTO, FDOT Structures Manual, and FDM.
- Required experience must also include experience using structural analysis programs, bridge design, and load rating software, including: MDX, Descus, Merlin Dash or similar software; LUSAS or similar software; CSiBridge;
AutoCAD;
MathCAD;
Micro Station; and FB-Multi Pier. - NOTE:
