Sirius Staffing is a for a Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Tampa, FL. This role is 100% onsite.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday.
Pay: $120,000/ annually +10% bonus.
* Relocation:
Must relocate within 4–6 weeks if non-local; relocation incentive of $5,000–$10,000 available (paid after start)*
Summary:
The Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer supports Asset Management team by ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of power generation and delivery systems. This role leads reliability initiatives, performs technical assessments on major electrical assets, oversees outage and maintenance activities, and ensures compliance with NERC and industry standards. Responsibilities include performing engineering calculations, identifying equipment risks, developing mitigation strategies, and supporting capital and O&M projects.
- Lead engineers, analysts, and technicians supporting electrical system integrity and NERC compliance.
- Develop analytical models, databases, and calculations to define expected system performance and identify failure modes.
- Assess grid systems using engineering analysis, inspections, non-destructive testing, performance metrics, and reliability modeling.
- Determine optimal strategies for maintenance, replacement, and capital investment based on engineering calculations and cost analysis.
- Recommend and justify mitigation strategies based on risk, system health, reliability, safety, and cost considerations.
- Provide engineering guidance for equipment/system design, procurement, installation, and capital project execution.
- Support forced outages and help expedite return-to-service activities.
- Assist with engineering specifications, scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for major projects.
- Lead and support maintenance work, both short-term and long-term.
- Lead Asset Management reliability teams and implement standardized reliability processes.
- Provide training and continuously improve asset reliability documentation, procedures, and engineering programs.
- Share lessons learned across sites to improve grid operations.
- Serve as the lead for Energy Supply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) coordination—collaborating with Energy Delivery teams.
- Engineering degree from ABET accredited college or university.
- Required: 8+ years of engineering experience within power
plant
or electric utility environments. - Experience with NERC standards, power system modeling, major electrical equipment, and asset reliability.
- Preferred: 3+ years performing the listed responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of utility electrical systems, O&M integration, outages, and capital project support.
- Ability to evaluate risks, system conditions, and equipment performance.
- Advanced analytical and modeling skills for system evaluation and failure detection.
- Preferred:
Deep knowledge of rotating equipment, transformers, inverters, switch gear, and protection systems. - Familiarity with reliability engineering best practices and O&M strategies.
