GroupOverview
Aerospace Engineering Group (AERO) is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s aviation engineering and integration capabilities, focusing on aircraft modification, system integration, and technical project management. AERO takes mission requirements and transforms them into operational assets by designing, engineering, and integrating new systems and technologies. The group manages aviation project life cycles, from concept to testing, ensuring aircraft modifications meet performance, safety and airworthiness standards.
PositionSummary
This role is primarily responsible for structural maintenance on Metrea type aircraft undergoing heavy modifications. When structural duties are not required, the technician will be called upon to complete routine aircraft maintenance within the department. The ideal Lead Structural Technician will have an A&P License and experience with King Air and Challenger type aircraft and will be able to lead a team on a special project or aircraft.
RoleAnd Responsibilities
- Mentor lower‑level mechanics during tasks.
- Lead structural AMTs on special projects or tasks while maintaining the highest quality and workmanship in accordance with published authority and FAA requirements.
- Complete structure tasks, including composite, wet layup, and aircraft modification, without direct supervision.
- Integrate new aircraft systems requiring extensive modification of original structures using engineering drawings and standard practice experience.
- Work with STC approval process, parts conformity, first‑article inspections, document control and red‑lining procedures.
- Coordinate with inspection department to complete proper paperwork for each installation or repair.
- Assist AMT lead and other departments in progressing installations or repairs of assigned projects.
- Identify issues with proposed parts and drawings during major alterations or modifications.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Aircraft Structures experience and advanced knowledge of aircraft systems.
- Preferred certifications: A&P Certificate or IA Credentials.
- Basic computer skills.
Proficient in Maintenance Technical Publications, Structural Inspection and Repair Manual, AMOS, and Veryon / Flight Docs for aircraft maintenance tracking, documentation, and compliance.

Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full‑time non‑exempt position with typical working hours from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Non‑exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates primarily in a hangar or flight line environment, with exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noise, and aircraft systems. Occasional travel and overtime may be required to support operational demands.
