HOW YOU'LL HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
The Lead Compressor Technician is under minimal supervision, leads the performance of predictive, preventative and emergency maintenance and repair of all compression, electrical generation and ancillary station equipment. Ensures station compliance with all air quality permits, discharge permits and spill control policies and regulations. Functions as subject matter expert and provides expert technical support and guidance in statewide compressor operations. The Lead Compressor Technicians possess special knowledge and experience or are unique in their value to the Company.
This level of technician is structured as a single incumbent position and as such, is not a normal progression.
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- 8 or more years of experience in compressor operations, engine, generator, turbine mechanics or electronics troubleshooting and repair, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, procedure manuals, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply mechanical and electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Works with high degree of independence with minimal supervision.
- Monitors complex variables affecting job progress and adjusts activities and resources to meet established job goals and completion deadlines.
- Uses expertise to anticipate problems and avoid delays.
- Makes decisions regarding the appropriate use of expensive materials and equipment.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of uniform mechanical, plumbing, OSHA and DOT codes, and regulations.
- Expert knowledge of tuning and calibrating electronic, pneumatic, and SCADA controls and equipment In depth knowledge of pipeline facility equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 volt dc Thorough understanding of lock out/tag out procedures.
- Understanding of process logic control, telecommunication equipment, and the host computer system.
- Ability to program complicated control scenarios and their relationships to improve compressor performance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
