Senior Airport Baggage Handling Systems Inspector

Since 2014, we've partnered with Tampa International Airport to deliver world-class program management, including the replacement of its main terminal.
As the airport expands to meet growing passenger demand, we're enhancing the baggage handling system (BHS) with a new belt-loop system to increase efficiency and capacity. To support this exciting initiative, we are seeking Senior BHS Inspectors to join our team on a three-year, $300 million project. One will supervise two other BHS Inspectors.

Responsibilities- Works in collaboration with BHS Project Manager and Project Engineer for specific assigned duties required in the execution of the work and serves as a coordination resource to the project team.
- Monitors field activities of assigned subcontractors and reports on progress.
- Assists in identifying and verifying remediation needs for non-conforming work.
- Maintains daily reports, site photos, and weekly / monthly status updates.
- Reviews and understands all relevant contract documents and project systems.
- Observes construction for compliance with plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Maintains accurate records of contractor performance and production.
- Assists PM / PE in verifying quantities and materials for progress payments.
- Monitors construction safety and reports unsafe practices to contractor supervision and HCAA HSE.
- Reviews look-ahead schedules and coordinates upcoming work requirements.
- Notifies HCAA PM immediately of out-of-sequence work, quality issues, or emerging concerns.
- Stays informed about nearby project coordination and shifting work areas.
- Supports airport operations requirements, including necessary notifications (SIRs, MCNs, NOTAMs).
- Maintains a photo diary of ongoing work and issues and distributes weekly updates.
- Participates in OAC meetings, safety meetings, QA / QC meetings, and inspections.
- Provides clear communication with HCAA staff and contractors.
- Prior conveyor package / baggage project experience.
- Construction experience with new and / or renovated conveyance systems like (cross belt sorters)
- Strong mechanical and electrical technical background across multiple disciplines associated with these conveyor systems.
- Ability and willingness to work on-site at Tampa, Florida Airport.
- Ability to work evening shifts and extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, project managers, and field stakeholders.
- Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and industry practices.
- Ability to monitor construction activities for progress, quality, and conformance.
- Previous experience working in an active airport environment.
- Knowledge of airport operations and required security / notification processes (SIRs, MCNs, NOTAMs).
- Experience using project management and construction controls software.
- Experience participating in OAC, QA / QC, safety, and pre-activity meetings.
- Background in monitoring construction safety and reporting unsafe conditions.
