WSP is currently initiating a search for a Signal Timing Engineer who will work out of our Tampa, FL office.
High-level Responsibilities- Develop, integrate, and fine‑tune signal timing changes.
- Provide supervision and direction for signal operational modifications.
- Conduct field reviews when necessary to evaluate traffic operation issues and resolve signal operation issues.
- Ensure signal operation modifications are signed, sealed, and properly documented in accordance with client policies and guidelines.
- Prepare system performance reports.
- Assist WSP’s signal timing team with signal/system retiming efforts.
- Assist in reporting results and effects of signal retiming efforts.
- Graduated from an accredited four‑year college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineering license in the state of Florida.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Traffic Signal Operation, signal retiming, and Traffic Signal Central Systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of traffic signal systems, traffic controller operation, Signal Central Systems, ITS and traffic engineering principles.
- Knowledge of traffic signal analysis programs such as SYNCHRO, HCS, etc.
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to make independent decisions on a routine basis.
- Ability to work alternate work schedules.
- Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
- Ability to coordinate real‑time activities and priorities.
