Distribution Engineer – Fort Lauderdale, FL
WSP is seeking a Distribution Engineer to join our Fort Lauderdale office. This role is a key part of a growing organization that delivers electric distribution solutions to a variety of clients.
Responsibilities- Design and deliver overhead and underground electric distribution projects (4 kV-35 kV), acting as the technical lead on medium‑complexity work packages.
- Provide engineering calculations, construction packages, and field support while coordinating with project managers, drafters, and client utilities.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- BSEE (or equivalent experience)
- Solid understanding of overhead and underground distribution design
- CAD software experience
- 4‑10 years in distribution engineering
- Strong background in both overhead and underground distribution design
- Proven ability to independently handle feeder‑level projects from scoping through Issued‑for‑Construction (IFC) with minimal oversight
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies
- EIT or PE (or progress toward)
- Utility standards experience (e.g., Duke, FPL, PG&E, TECO)
