Ports and Marine Civil/Structural Lead Engineer/Project Manager
WSP in the U.S. is initiating a search for a Ports and Marine Senior Lead Engineer/Project Manager to work out of Raleigh-NC, Miami+Tampa-FL, Houston-TX, San Diego+Irvine, CA.
For over 40 years, WSP has been a leader in waterfront structural design in the Puget Sound, for the U.S. Navy, and worldwide. The WSP Maritime group is a dynamic group with strong work ethics and a culture of collaboration and camaraderie. You will be joining the largest and best waterfront/marine design group in the country. Projects are diverse, interesting, and challenging.
Your Impact
- Independently perform and supervise structural analysis and design for marine and upland components.
- Independently perform and supervise berthing and mooring analyses.
- Lead development of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for a variety of port and Navy projects.
- Understand maritime codes and references including UFC, PIANC, and ASCE-61.
- Independently prepare basis of design, design calculations, technical reports, alternatives analysis, and study reports.
- Understand interdisciplinary requirements for port projects and be capable of performing QA/QC reviews.
- Attend client meetings and perform site visits.
- Mentor developing port and maritime engineers.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in analysis and design of port structures.
- Professional Engineer Licenses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Previous experience in analyses and design of medium to large scale ports/maritime/Navy structures and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates.
- National professional practice organization involvement.
- Hands‑on analyses and design experience (SAP
2000, OPTIMOOR, L‑PILE, SLIDE).
