Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Engineer to provide advanced engineering and technical expertise on complex electric transmission projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.
In this role, you will manage, prepare, review, and provide guidance on line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance verification, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability assessments, work order package preparation, permitting, and coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and approve PLS-CADD criteria for transmission projects.
- Finalize PLS-CADD models and designs.
- Plan and schedule project tasks for support teams.
- Attend client stakeholder and design review meetings.
- Mentor and train junior engineering team members.
- Provide technical input on special design questions.
- Participate in internal engineering and design review sessions.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (required).
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required).
- Minimum of 8 years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required).
- Proficient in using PLS-CADD for transmission line design (required).
- Strong knowledge of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI.
- Experience coordinating with substation, environmental, right-of-way, construction, and maintenance stakeholders.
- Proven ability to apply engineering theories and principles effectively.
- Skilled in researching engineering issues, evaluating alternatives, and preparing recommendations.
- Commitment to working safely and adhering to all safety regulations.
- Self-motivated and capable of thriving in an unstructured, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent collaboration skills, able to work effectively with team members and peers in the industry.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record per company policy.
