Position Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Description: Waypoint's client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M). PEO-M delivers the world's most advanced combat diving equipment, surface systems, and undersea platforms to Naval Special Warfare operators. This role provides critical engineering expertise to the Dry Combat Submersible (DCS) program, ensuring performance, reliability, and modernization of mission-essential maritime systems.

Responsibilities
  • In support of PEO-M's Dry Combat Submersible (DCS) program, provide significant, expert-level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements
  • Complete advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials
  • Apply advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks
  • Evaluate state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies and incorporate them into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems
  • Provide expert-level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution
  • Direct and coordinate engineering and maintenance programs, and inform the development of criteria for specialized critical system design
  • Expertly adjust technical support to meet emergencies, change programs or production requirements within available resources and without sacrificing completeness and accuracy
  • Work with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects
  • Direct engineering sufficiency review of assigned programs and projects until turnover
  • Evaluate and recommend programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering
  • Support contract modification and make technical recommendations for change order approval; support budget control directly supporting the engineering effort
  • Provide decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies
  • Support technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs
  • Plan, execute, and document surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes
  • Analyze trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing agency-level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes
  • Plan and program to support improvement and modernization, advanced strategic planning, marketing, and technical symposia; support management of the organization's direct and reimbursable budget, and verification of test program funds
Required
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret clearance
  • DAWIA Practitioner (formerly Level II) Equivalency in Program Management, Engineering & Technical Management, or Test & Evaluation - or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
  • 10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs
  • Knowledge of maritime electrical system design requirements, particularly ungrounded maritime electrical systems
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles, including identifying and assessing counterfeit vulnerabilities
Desired
  • Master's degree in an engineering field and 8 years of systems engineering or integration experience supporting acquisition programs
  • At least 2 years of experience in design and analysis of maritime electrical systems
  • Experience with electrical subsystems and system design associated with currently fielded Naval Special Warfare craft
