As the Manager of Underwriting and Risk
, you will design, lead, and optimize Mad Mobile’s underwriting and risk management strategies to enable scalable, compliant growth across our payments and SaaS ecosystem. This role blends strategic foresight, operational discipline, and deep analytical acumen to safeguard business integrity while empowering innovation and customer success. You will collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Product teams to build a world‑class risk framework that balances opportunity with prudence, ensuring Mad Mobile’s growth remains sustainable, compliant, and data‑driven.
Location:
Must be based in or willing to relocate to Tampa, FL. This is an in‑office role.

- Lead and own all underwriting and risk management programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company objectives.
- Develop, document, and continuously enhance underwriting models, credit policies, and risk frameworks to support evolving business needs.
- Partner cross‑functionally with Finance, Legal, and Operations to design scalable, compliant underwriting strategies.
- Evaluate financial and operational data to identify trends, assess risk exposure, and drive data‑informed decisions.
- Implement and oversee automated risk monitoring systems to proactively detect and mitigate emerging risks.
- Present clear, actionable insights to executive leadership and stakeholders through concise reports and dashboards.
- Champion automation and efficiency, using analytics and technology to streamline underwriting and risk review processes.
- Establish and maintain strong compliance practices, including adherence to KYC, AML, PCI, and other payment industry requirements.
- Mentor and develop team members, cultivating a high‑performance culture centered on accuracy, accountability, and innovation.
- 5+ years proven experience leading underwriting and/or risk management functions in fintech, financial services, or SaaS organizations.
- Deep understanding of credit principles, compliance frameworks, and regulatory standards within payments or financial ecosystems.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate data insights into business strategies.
- Demonstrated success in building and optimizing scalable, automated risk processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional partners.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards, including KYC, AML, OFAC, and card network requirements. - Experience leading teams in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools, CRM systems, and financial analytics platforms.
- Strategic thinker and pragmatic problem‑solver who can balance innovation with operational rigor.
- Experience with embedded payments, payment facilitation, or merchant onboarding.
- Familiarity with AI or data‑driven risk modeling in underwriting environments.
- Exposure to SaaS economics, recurring revenue models, or vertical market technology platforms.
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Finance, or related field) is a plus.
