The pay range is provided by the U.S. Secret Service. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
- Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
- Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
- Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Possess a current valid U.S. driver s license.
- Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have prior Federal Civilian Law Enforcement service qualifying for special retirement provisions. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the process.
- Carry and use a firearm and maintain firearm proficiency.
- Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected visual acuity 20/20 or better in each eye.
- Hearing must meet standard limits (not exceed 25 decibels in specified ranges); able to hear whispered voice at 15 feet in each ear without a hearing aid.
- Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing during employment.
- Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
- Register with the Selective Service System if required by gender and date of birth.
