Overview

Position:
Mid-Special Security Technician (Physical).

Location:

Tampa, FL. The role supports the Special Security Officer (SSO) by managing access to SCI and SCIF facilities, conducting security briefings/indoctrinations/debriefings, and ensuring compliance with SCI access protocols. The incumbent inspects and maintains SCIFs, oversees access control systems, manages intrusion detection and CCTV monitoring, and processes SCIF accreditations and policy exceptions. The role also maintains physical security programs such as open storage inspections and residential storage assessments, while adhering to DoD security standards and pursuing SFPC certification within two years.

Responsibilities

The Mid-Level Special Security Technician (Physical) supports the SSO by:

  • Managing access to SCI and SCIF facilities; certifying and receiving SCI visitor clearances/accesses; conducting SCI security briefings, indoctrinations, and debriefings; obtaining signed nondisclosure agreements; and providing guidance for processing SCI position and eligibility requests for assigned military, Government, and contractor personnel.
  • Auditing classified material; inspecting classified material storage facilities/SCIFs/containers; researching and preparing classified material-related policy and management recommendations.
  • Inspecting and maintaining SCIF accreditation; performing and maintaining annual SCIF inspection checklists.
  • Maintaining the Open Storage Inspection Program and performing annual inspections.
  • Inspecting, assessing, and drafting responses to requests for residential use and storage of sensitive/classified information and equipment.
  • Maintaining the online Access Control Database (ACD) and badge records in the AMAG system; monitoring the AMAG Intrusion Detection System and CCTV.
  • Processing FVEY Mitigation packages and SCIF accreditation requests for approval; maintaining and processing exceptions to SCIF policy requests for CCMD.
  • Obtaining the DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 2 years and recertifying as required; ongoing maintenance of ACD/badge records and CCTV/IDS monitoring.
Requirements
  • Assists the SSO to ensure control of access to SCI and SCI facilities (SCIFs); certifies and receives SCI visitor clearances/accesses; conducts SCI security briefings, indoctrinations, debriefings, training on classified material/SSO-related topics; obtains signed nondisclosure agreements; and provides guidance and assistance for processing SCI position and eligibility requests for assigned personnel. Other duties may include audits of classified material; inspections of storage facilities/SCIFs/containers;

    and researching and drafting policy/management recommendations. Other requirements and skills may be specified in individual TOs.
  • Desired

    Experience:

    At least 8 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to the labor category, with part of that experience within the last 2 years.
  • Desired

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the labor category from an accredited institution.
  • Active TS/SCI CI Poly clearance is required for this role.
