The Environmental Specialist III works for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Temple Terrace, reviewing and evaluating permit applications and waste cleanup documents for compliance with state and federal regulations. The role involves site inspections, technical writing, data entry, and providing regulatory assistance to permit tees and other programs. The incumbent may also mentor staff, conduct peer reviews, and initiate enforcement actions as needed.
Keyqualifications:
- At least 4 years of verifiable related experience (or post‑secondary degree on a year‑for‑year basis)
- Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, hydrology, and Florida geology
- Ability to interpret laboratory analysis and hazardous waste regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Valid driver license required
