The Radiology Medical Physicist has the responsibility of ensuring the pursuit of the vision and mission of Moffitt Cancer Center by active participation in clinical care, education programs, and interdepartmental collaborations. Clinical activities include quality assurance, comprehensive continuing quality improvement, development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure quality and safety, clinical translation of new technology, and assisting in the physics and dosimetry aspects of clinical trials.
All team members must work effectively and collegially with the entire medical staff (physicians, physicists, technologists, nurses, etc.).
Master's Degree Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering, or closely related field
Preferred EducationPh.D. Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering, or closely related field
Licensure / Certification- Florida License in Diagnostic Radiology Physicist or able to obtain within 90 days from date of hire

Three years of experience training/working as a medical physicist in diagnostic radiology. Individual should have experience with advanced diagnostic imaging technologies regulatory requirements, and state of the art quality assurance methods. Evidence of commitment to an outstanding clinical service is necessary. Individual must show evidence of a firm commitment to developing an outstanding career as a clinical physicist, educator, and interdepartmental collaborator.
MinimumSkills / Specialized Training Required
- Current Certification in Diagnostic Radiology Physics by the American Board of Radiology (A ) or equivalent.
- Active Florida Medical Nuclear Radiological Physics license, or ability to obtain within three years of hire.
- Experience conducting regulatory and accreditation compliance testing for Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography, and other imaging modalities.
- Experience interacting with regulatory and accreditation auditors.
- Experience in performing radiation safety oversight of diagnostic imaging operations.
- Experience troubleshooting Diagnostic imaging and Nuclear Medicine including PET equipment, and providing recommendations of corrective actions.
- Experience conducting and interpreting regulatory and accreditation compliance testing in diagnostic radiology including Nuclear Medicine and PET.
