Optical Technician

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Optical Technician to join our team in Tampa. We offer competitive pay with an opportunity to earn a monthly bonus.

Candidates may be subject to an in‑person skills assessment. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

• Collecting and recording patient medical history.
• Instructing patients on post‑operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations.
• Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions, tonometry (eye pressure), measuring pupil size and reactivity.
• Performing confrontational visual field testing and pachymetry.
• Performing dry eye testing.
• Participating in light cleaning and maintaining a sanitized environment.
• Conducting corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B‑scan ultrasonography.
• Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal.
• Preparing for and assisting with in‑office procedures, including patient consent.

Travel will be required between Optic Soho locations (Tampa / Riverview).

• Minimum of one year assisting in an optical practice or as an optometrist assistant.
• Ophthalmic experience is a plus.
