Key Responsibilities- Collecting and recording patient medical history
- Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care, and exam expectations.
- Performing visual acuity testing, auto and manifest refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), and tonometry (measuring eye pressure)
- Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLA
- Testing elements of movement (eye muscle function)
- Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (corneal thickness measurement)
- Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, interferometry, brightness acuity testing
- Participating in light cleaning of the facility
- Maintaining a sanitized environment
- Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, and B‑scan ultrasonography
- Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts.
- Preparing for and assisting with in‑office procedures including consenting patients
- Assisting with lasers or minor procedures
Travel may be required to support clinics in Hillsborough County. Pay is provided for travel time and reimbursement for mileage.
QualificationsRequired:
- Minimal of one year in a medical environment
Preferred:
- Certification through JCAHPO
- Bi‑lingual – English / Spanish (fluent)
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform manifest refraction is required.
- Ability to perform tonometry is required.
- Ability to effectively multitask.
- Attentive to detail and accuracy.
- Competitive base pay – commensurate with experience; candidates will be requested to demonstrate skills during interview process.
