We are seeking a Molecular Pathology Tech to support the clinical molecular laboratory, maintain equipment and records, perform quality control and quality assurance activities, participate in evaluating new procedures and equipment, provide training for technologists, residents, fellows, and other medical staff, and assist with department operations including clerical duties, reagent preparation, and inventory control. The role involves writing and revising technical procedures and working efficiently in a computerized environment.

• Maintain equipment and records; perform quality control and quality assurance activities; participate in evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
• Provide training for technologists, residents, fellows, and other medical staff.
• Work in a computerized environment; assist with clerical duties, reagent preparation, and inventory control.
• Write and revise technical procedures.
• Specimen handling: receive, accessions, and process blood and other human specimens.
• Perform and report tests according to standard operating procedures; demonstrate knowledge of molecular testing theory, procedures, and instrument operation and maintenance related to molecular testing.

• Has a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology (preferred).
• Is ASCP certified.
• Possesses superior organizational skills and is capable of working independently.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology, Medical Technology or Biological Science is required.
• Licensed Medical Technologist with Molecular Specialty by the state of Florida required.
• 12 months experience in molecular pathology, medical technology or related field, including nucleic acid extraction and PCR techniques, DNA sequencing, mutation analysis, molecular oncology, and relevant specimen handling, QC/QA.
• Sound technical knowledge of molecular testing validation, performance, QC, QA, and applicable laboratory regulations.
